Join Tile Roofs of Texas and Bike Barn for the 11th annual Houston Grand Crit on Sunday May 7th. Houston’s biggest crit race and one of the most popular in Texas, and this year will be the best yet. Recently re-surfaced and smooth Allen Parkway promises to be one of the fastest courses in our history. And with the completion of Buffalo Bayou Park, the new start/finish location provides an incredible beautiful venue for racers, spectators, family and friends.
You don’t have to be racing to join the fun. This is a wonderful spectator venue with plenty of race action, featuring some of the best cyclists in Texas and across Houston. Racing will happen all day long with the men’s elite cyclists at 10:40am and the women’s elite race at 12:25. The action will take place along Allen Parkway adjacent to Buffalo Bayou Park, from downtown to Taft. Grab your friends and family and enjoy the day with fast racing, food trucks and plenty of action. And don’t forget the kids, there are two FREE kids races, Under 7 years old and Under 12 years old.
Special thanks to Tile Roofs for Texas for their continued sponsorship of the Houston Grand Crit. This year we celebrate 11 wonderful years and exciting racing. This is one of the most popular cycling events in Houston with great viewing for family, friends or anyone that enjoys some exciting racing. If you are new to bike racing, this is a USA Cycling (USAC) sanctioned race with everyone licensed by USAC and racing in categories based on their experience. All cyclists begin as a Cat 5 racer and progress to Cat 1, the most experienced and fastest. If you are new to racing you can get a one day license and line up in the Cat 5 race that morning. Athletes move up in category over time as they gain experience and start earning points. Plus, this year the course will be on the newly re-surfaced Allen Parkway which will make for some fast racing, don’t miss the action!
